Opportunity

The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.
Winston Churchill

Everyone has a chance to be Successful

People often handle life as they do bad weather.
They while away the time waiting for it to stop.
Yet the tide of opportunity comes to everyone.

Opportunity knocks all the time, but you've got to be ready for it.
When your chance comes, you must have the equipment to take advantage of it.

The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, for time and chance happen to everyone. Take a second look at what appears to be someone's "good luck." You'll find not luck but preparation, planning and success-producing thinking.

When you're prepared for opportunity your chance for success is sure to come.
The season of failure is the best time for sowing the seeds of success.

Dedicated in Memory of my NANA!!!!!!!!!!! Miss you Holidays are Coming

Words from Rose

Life Is What You Make Of It

No one can cheat you out of ultimate success but you.

You must choose the thoughts and actions that will lead you on to success.
You must set your own standards.

Nothing meaningful happens by itself.
It will all come your way, once you understand that you have to make it come your way, by your own efforts.

Only you can hold yourself back, or stand in your own way.
Only you can help yourself.

Not in time, place or circumstances, but in you lies success.

love

Love just doesn't just sit there, like a stone,
it has to be made like bread, remade all the
time, made new.

~ Ursula Le Guin

Motivation - Excellence

There's no such thing as perfection. But, in striving for
perfection, we can achieve excellence.

~ Vince Lombardi

Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to
be done, it's always your choice.

~ Wayne Dyer

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore,
is not an act but a habit.

A time to talk - Frost

A Time to Talk

When a friend calls to me from the road
And slows his horse to a meaning walk,
I don't stand still and look around
On all the hills I haven't hoed,
And shout from where I am, 'What is it?'
No, not as there is a time talk.
I thrust my hoe in the mellow ground,
Blade-end up and five feet tall,
And plod: I go up to the stone wall
For a friendly visit.

Robert Lee Frost
Balances

in life
one is always
balancing

like we juggle our mothers
against our fathers

or one teacher
against another
(only to balance our grade average)

3 grains of salt
to one ounce truth

our sweet black essence
or the funky honkies down the street

and lately i've begun wondering
if you're trying to tell me something

we used to talk all night
and do things alone together

and i've begun

(as a reaction to a feeling)
to balance
the pleasure of loneliness
against the pain
of loving you

Road Less Traveled - Frost..Love this poem

ROAD LESS TRAVELED

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

Then took the other as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet, knowing how way leads onto way
I doubted if I should ever come back

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence
Two roads diverged in a wood
And I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference

Words from Rose

YOUR SUCCESS IS A MATTER OF EXPECTATION

You must first expect to succeed if you want to succeed.
When you expect good things to happen, strangely enough, they will happen.
Expectation energizes your goals and gives them momentum.

Your life will always respond to your outlook, so set your goals high.
The dreams you choose to believe in will come to be.

You can't expect to succeed beyond your wildest expectations unless you begin with some pretty wild expectation

POSITIVE QUOTE OF THE DAY -----------------------------Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.-- Thomas Paine (1737-1809) British-American Writer

3 passions

Bertrand Russell:

Three passions have governed my life:
The longings for love, the search for knowledge,
And unbearable pity for the suffering of [humankind].

Love brings ecstasy and relieves loneliness.
In the union of love I have seen
In a mystic miniature the prefiguring vision
Of the heavens that saints and poets have imagined.

With equal passion I have sought knowledge.
I have wished to understand the hearts of [people].
I have wished to know why the stars shine.

Love and knowledge led upwards to the heavens,
But always pity brought me back to earth;
Cries of pain reverberated in my heart
Of children in famine, of victims tortured
And of old people left helpless.
I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot,
And I too suffer.

This has been my life; I found it worth living.

Watching the Sunrise - Lew Duffey

Watching the Sunrise

From where I live you never really see the early morning sun rising in the air.

You see it a little later once it lifts up above the mountains and peeks at you from there.

You will not see it’s orange and yellows that are so beautiful to contemplate

You see a sun that is white and warm and to harsh to watch in my home state.

But, I have seen the same sun as it rises over the sea.

It paints the air and colors the water as its rays bounce across to greet me.

The sky around the sun is orange and the colors of the ocean deep and wide

Are renewed as something beautiful as the sun glances at us from the side.

But later as the sun raises up higher in the skies

I dare not look directly at it for it can blind my eyes.

God is like that, you know, he gives a moment of praise

As we gaze upon his glory as we start each of our days.

But, much of what we see we see with blind and honest faith sublime.

For those precious moments when we see him will not last a very long time.

If only we could understand that we can see him everywhere

He is in the land and sea and he is in the tree, in fact, he is everywhere.

This may come as a surprise to you but if you want a glimpse of God

Simply look inside your heart, God is there deep down inside.

He created man to be in his own image this is a fact that’s true .

So we should know that a part of God is there, within me and you.

Don’t walk away from eternal life for it is the one true treasure.

It is the source of a greater joy than man can ever measure.

Very Simple and True Statements

Teachings of Gautam Buddha

On Judgmental People:
People with opinions just go around bothering each other.

On Anger:
Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.

On Truth:
Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.

On Anger:
You will not be punished for your anger; you will be punished by your anger.

On Work:
To be idle is a short road to death and to be diligent is a way of life; foolish people are idle, wise people are diligent.

On Friends:
An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind.

On Love:
You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

On Envy:
Do not overrate what you have received, nor envy others. He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind.

On Good Deeds:
Neither fire nor wind, birth nor death can erase our good deeds.

On Thought:
The mind is everything. What you think you become.

On Gratitude:
Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful.

On Hatred:
Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule.

Doubts are the ants in the pants of faith. They keep it awake and moving.

Charles Wesley

Thomas R Kelly
For God Himself works in our souls, in the deepest depths, taking increasing control as we are progressively willing to be prepared for His wonder.

For what is faith unless it is to believe what you do not see?

.............love

Love is as much of an object as an obsession, everybody wants it, everybody seeks it, but few ever achieve it, those who do will cherish it, be lost in it, and among all, never... never forget it.

“Adam was but human—this explains it all. He did not want the apple for the apple’s sake, he wanted it only because it was forbidden. The mistake was in not forbidding the serpent; then he would have eaten the serpent.”-Mark Twain

Beauty

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Happiness

Samuel Johnson
We are long before we are convinced that happiness is never to be found, and each believes it possessed by others, to keep alive the hope of obtaining it for himself.

Mark Twain
There are people who can do all fine and heroic things but one—keep from telling their happiness to the unhappy.

Charles Schulz
Happiness is a warm puppy.

Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso
When I meet people from other cultures I know that they too want happiness and do not want suffering, this allows me to see them as brothers and sisters.

Happiness - Aristole

Aristotle, In Philosophy
Happiness is something final and complete in itself, as being the aim and end of all practical activities whatever .... Happiness then we define as the active exercise of the mind in conformity with perfect goodness or virtue.

Words from unknown author

Letting go doesn't mean giving up... it means moving on. It is one of the hardest things a person can do. Starting at birth, we grasp on to anything we can get our hands on, and hold on as if we will cease to exist when we let go. We feel that letting go is giving up, quitting, and that as we all know is cowardly. But as we grow older we are forced to change our way of thinking. We are forced to realize that letting go means accepting things that cannot be. It means maturing and moving on, no matter how hard you have to fight yourself to do so."

chaucer on Love

For there is one thing I can safely say: that those bound by love must obey each other if they are to keep company long. Love will not be constrained by mastery; when mastery comes, the God of love at once beats his wings, and farewell -- he is gone. Love is a thing as free as any spirit; women naturally desire liberty, and not to be constrained like slaves; and so do men, if I shall tell the truth.

See who is the most patient in love; he has the greatest advantage. Patience is surely a great virtue, for it vanquished, as these scholars say, things that rigor would never manage. One cannot scold or complain at every word. Learn to endure patiently, or else, as I live and breathe, you shall learn it whether you want or not. For certainly there is no one in the world who doesn't do or say something amiss. Anger, sickness, or planetary influences, wine, sorrow, or changing of disposition often causes one to do or speak amiss. One cannot be avenged for every wrong; according to the occasion, everyone who knows how, must use temperance. And therefore a wise man, in order to live in comfort, promises his lady forbearance, and she wisely gives her promise to him.

You have to renew Love everyday

Anais Nin:

Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings.

Tomorrow

Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day. (Sanskrit)

Words from Rose Cee - Courage

Courage, it would seem, is nothing less than the power to overcome danger, misfortune, fear, injustice, while continuing to affirm inwardly that life with all its sorrows is good; that everything is meaningful even if in a sense beyond our understand...ing; and that there is always tomorrow ... (Dorothy Thompson)

You Can Do it

"Somehow I can't believe that there are any heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret - curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of all is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable."

- Walt Disney

"Without self-confidence we are as babes in the cradles. And how can we generate this imponderable quality, which is yet so invaluable most quickly? By thinking that other people are inferior to oneself."

- Virginia Woolf

Words from Rose Cee

To be admired for one's physical beauty is not so special, for it is nothing but vanity and flattery... To be loved for one's personality and character is admirable - that is a jewel worth holding onto and a treasure worth having forever... :) ...

Why not?

George Bernard Shaw:

Some men see things as they are and say, "Why?" I dream of things that never were and say, "Why not?"

Courage - Alan Cohen

Alan Cohen:

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.
